The Federal Bureau of Investigation has warned about the increasing number of sextortion cases in the country.

Crime Prevention Officer Tony Capizzi from Fairfax County Police Department · 1 day ago

Fairfax County Police Department - 7269 Crime and Safety updates — Nextdoor (12)

For those of you who have not heard of sextortion, it is the practice of extorting money from someone by threatening to reveal improper, or nude, images of the victim to family and friends. Fairfax County has received numerous calls for this crime, and we are here to help. There are also some things you can do if you become a victim.

First thing, call the police to report the incident. We know that for all the cases that are reported, there are many more that are not reported. Call the Fairfax County Non-Emergency Number of 703-691-2131, or 911 for an emergency.

Second, go to the website for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, www.takeitdown.ncmec.org for more information on how to take down your explicit images.

Finally, even if you, or your family, have not been victims of sextortion, have an open and honest discussion in the house. Talk to your kids about the proper use of the cell phone, internet safety, and the consequences of that come with posting explicit images. Remember, you are not alone. There are lots of resources to help you navigate this difficult topic.

If you have other questions, you can reach out to me at Anthony.capizzi@fairfaxcounty.gov

No appointment needed. Car seats will be inspected on a first come, first served basis. When you arrive, come into the lobby and you will be given further instructions.

Be sure to install the child safety seat yourself so the inspection can be performed. The seat will be properly re-installed if necessary, and you will learn how to install the seat properly in the future. Any questions please reach out to MPO Tony Capizzi at 703-277-2363 or Anthony.capizzi@fairfaxcounty.gov . We follow the Fairfax County Public School system for any weather-related cancellations.

All car seat inspections/installations will be conducted by a certified Child Passenger Safety technician.

We also have car seat inspections, by appointment, every Tuesday from 5:00PM-8:00PM. Please call the station at 703-644-7377 and press zero to make an appointment on those days.

Join us tomorrow, June 6th, as we’re hosting a car seat inspection at Sully District Station (4900 Stonecroft Blvd, Chantilly) from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Just look to your left when you get to the station, there's a sign there pointing you to where the line begins. It's first-come, first-served, and guess what? It won't cost you a thing!

Before you drop in, install the child safety seat on your own. If you need a hand, we're here to help reinstall it properly, and we'll even show you the ropes for the next time you're flying solo. Everyone is welcome, so don't pass up this opportunity! See you there!
